GAA CLUB NOTES

The Junior team played Round 1 of the Junior Championship on Friday when they hosted Mountbellew-Moylough in Corofin. The lads played really well under difficult conditions against a very strong Mountbellew-Moylough team but they were unfortunate to lose by the smallest of margins; Corofin 0-13 Mountbellew-Moylough 2-08

The Junior D team played their League Shield Semi-Final against Kilconly on Saturday afternoon. It was a very close game with both teams trading points and goals. Kilconly pulled away in the final 10 minutes and finished with a 5-point winning margin; Corofin 2-07 Kilconly 2-12. Well done to the players and management of the Junior D team. It was a brilliant campaign and at all times the group represented the Club with distinction, collectively displaying characteristics of teamwork, unity and tenacity.

The U-19 team play Round 2 of the U-19 ‘A’ Championship North Wednesday evening at 8:00pm away to Claregalway. The U-17 team play Round 3 of the U-19 ‘A’ Championship North on Sunday morning at 11:30am away to Annaghdown.

LGFA CLUB NOTES

The Senior team beat Naomh Mhuire in Round 2 of the Coen Cup last Tuesday evening (11th) in Corofin. It was a low scoring affair with neither team willing to allow the other the slightest of advantages. Thankfully our ladies were able to hold on to their single point lead to the final whistle, Corofin 1-05 Naomh Mhuire 1-04. They were due to play Round 3 last Friday evening against Caltra Cuans but Caltra had to fortfeit the fixture as they were unable to field a team.

The Junior team won their Semi-Final of the Coen Cup against St. Fursey’s at last Thursday. It was a nail-biting finish to the game but the ladies held on for a fantastic win; Corofin 5-08 St Furseys 3-11. Goal scorers were Lorraine Ryder, Louise Reilly (x3) and Heather O' Leary. Well done ladies and best of luck in the Final!
