GAA CLUB NOTES
On Thursday the Junior team hosted Loughrea in Corofin for Division 4B Round 7. The Junior’s started well and held a 2-point lead at half-time, thanks to two goals from Darragh Collins and another from Kevin Murphy. Loughrea responded well in the second half and turned the tie around. Final score Corofin 3-10 Loughrea 3-11.
On Friday evening the Senior team were away to St. Michael’s in Westside for Division 1 Round 7. The lads took a dominant lead in the first half with a goal from Jack McCabe and didn’t let up for the second half, finishing with a convincing winning margin, Corofin 2-14 St Michael’s 0-06. Second half goal from a Jason Leonard penalty.
On Sunday afternoon the Intermediates were away to St. James’s in Mervue for Division 3A Round 7. It was a tight first half with both teams having scored 1-07 by the break. However, St James’s made home advantage count and were able to open a slight gap before the final whistle. The scoreline finished on Corofin 1-13 St James’s 2-14.
This evening (Monday), the Junior A team travelled to Milltown for the Galway Junior A Championship North. It was a game full of goals and thankfully most of them were in our favour. The lads played a great game and the final score finished at Corofin 5-10 Milltown 2-09. Goals from Sean Newell, Nathan Kearney, Darragh Collins and Colm O’Donovan (x2).
The Junior D game against Milltown fixed for Tuesday evening has been postponed to Friday instead at 8pm in Belclare.
The Galway Senior played Westmeath on Saturday at TEG Cusack Park, Mullingar for Round 2 of their All-Ireland Championship Group 2. Ian Burke started the game and scored a point, Bernie Power was named on the bench. The next game for the Galway Seniors is against Armagh for the final round of the All-Ireland Championship Group 2.
UNDERAGE
The u13 Boys travelled to Sligo on Saturday as they were hosted by St Mary’s for the Clifford Cup. They entered two teams, one in the Cup and one in the Shield. Both teams sailed through their Group games and won their Semi-Finals comfortably. The boys beat 4 Masters in the Shield Final, 5-06 to 1-03. The Cup Final say the boys face-off against an impressive Castlebar team, 2-07 to 2-03. Well done to the boys for their footballing display and also for how the represented the Club in Sligo for the day. Well done to the Management team also for guiding the teams through for the double!
The u12 Girls Green team play against Tuam-Cortoon in Tuam at 7:00pm on Wednesday evening for Round 6 of Division 6. Tomorrow the u12 Blue team host Loughrea in Belclare for Round 6 of Division 2. Best of luck to all the girls this week.
A reminder that the Nursery Group continues to train in Belclare on Saturdays from 10:15 – 11:15am. This training is for boys and girls born in 2017 and 2018 only.
