GAA CLUB NOTES
On Friday, the Junior team travelled to Ballinasloe for their Division 4B league Round 1 fixture. The lads got off to a great start and played great football against a competitive Ballinasloe. A spirited comeback from Ballinasloe in the last quarter resulted in the game ending in a draw, Corofin 0-8 Ballinasloe 1-5.
On Saturday evening the Senior team were away to Milltown for the opening game of their Division 1 campaign as they look to retain the title this year. It was a great team performance under difficult conditions but the lads came through with a win in the end, Corofin 0-13 Milltown 1-7, Congratulations to Milltown on their first use of their new floodlights, excellent facilities.
On Sunday afternoon the Intermediate team hosted Cortoon Shamrocks in Corofin for their Division 3A League campaign opener. First half saw a low-scoring game with Cortoon scoring 1 point and Corofin managing a goal. The second half improved slightly and the game opened up with Corofin securing win for a good start to the league. Final score Corofin 2-2 Cortoon Shamrocks 0-5.
On Saturday Galway U20’s played the Final of the John Kerins Cup U20 Development League against Dublin in the Centre LOETB Laois Centre of Excellence. It was a tight encounter but Galway did enough to come out the winners by the slimmest of margins, Galway 0-14 Dublin 0-13.
Congratulations to Club Players involved in the panel; Bernard Coen, Brian Cogger, Patrick Egan, Jack McCabe Cormac Greaney. Patrick Egan scored a great point in the first half.
CLUB SOCIAL
Save the date! Please note the revised date for the Club Social is May 26th. A great night will be in store as we present medals due to players, including All-Ireland medals for two of the historic 3-in-a-row teams! Details on venue, tickets, etc will be announced in due course. We look forward to celebrating our Club’s recent successes with as many of our Members and Supporters as possible.
