GAA CLUB NOTES
On Saturday the Intermediates played their Relegation Round 1 game against An Cheathrú Rua in Pearse Stadium. The team led at the break by 2-points and despite a goal scare in the second half, they held on to win by a single point. Another tight game in the Championship for this team, but glad to come away with the win. Corofin 0-11 An Cheathrú Rua 1-07.
Just afterwards, the Junior team played Salthill-Knocknacarra in The Prairie for their Junior 2 Championship Quarter Final. It was a highly competitive game with both teams scoring some great points. Unfortunately goals were the difference as the game finished Corofin 1-12 Salthill-Knocknacarra 3-12. It was a great year for this team, plenty of youth mixed with seasoned players. There certainly are bright days ahead for these players.
On Sunday the Senior team were to play An Bhearna in Headford for Round 5 of the Senior Championship Group 2. Unfortunately, due to adverse weather and ground conditions, this game was cancelled and has now been rescheduled for Thursday evening at 8:00pm in Milltown. Best of luck to the players and management team.
The U-19’s were due to play their rescheduled North Board Championship Semi-Final this Wednesday against Tuam Stars at 7:00pm in Corofin. However the game has been postponed until a later date.
LGFA CLUB NOTES
On Saturday the Senior team played their Round 3 fixture of the Championship against Caltra Cuans at the new Caltra pitch. It was a brilliant display from the team and some clinical finishing in front of goal proved vital as the game finished Corofin 3-10 Caltra Cuans 0-11.
On early Sunday afternoon the Junior B team travelled to Monivea to play Monivea-Abbey in Round 3 of their Championship. A tough game for the girls against a strong Monivea-Abbey team. Scores were difficulty to come by in challenging conditions but once again this weekend goals were the difference. The game finished Corofin 4-06 Monivea-Abbey 2-07.
At the later time of 5:00pm on Sunday, the Junior E team headed in to Tuam Stars pitch to play Tuam-Cortoon for Round 3 of their Championship. Another tough game on Sunday but one where the Junior E team showed fantastic spirit, never dropping their effort. The game finished Corofin 2-06 Tuam Cortoon 4-13.
